Witbier

A distinctive Belgian style, unfiltered, pale and opaque due to the high wheat content, sometimes with oats added during the brewing process. The beer is always flavored, most commonly with orange peel, coriander seeds, and sometimes other herbs for depth of flavor. The crisp, slightly sour taste comes from the wheat and the carbonation is lively. This is a style favored by many American brewers and done well. Sometimes served with a lemon wedge, but to fully appreciate the subtlety, drink it plain. Because of the characteristic opaque color due to the suspended yeast, this style is also known as White Beer or “white beer.”
