BEER STYLE
Grodziskie
A light, oak-smoked wheat beer, characterized by a smoky malt flavor in a slender body. The recipe typically uses almost all wheat malt, resulting in a golden to golden color. The smokiness is often dominant, but can be lighter and more subtle in some versions. The hop count is low, giving it a spicy, herbal, and floral flavor. Grodziskie is not sour or off-fermentative, unlike many other classic beers. The style originated in the Polish town of Grodzisk (called Grätzer in German), and is known today as a “light Rauchbier,” less smoky than its German or American counterparts.
