Lighthouse

A classic style from the Thuringia region (Germany), this light wheat beer is distinguished by its delicate balance of lightly smoky malt and mild acidity from lactic acid fermentation (Lactobacillus). Compared to Berliner Weisse or Gose, Lichtenhainer is less acidic and does not use any additives. The beer has a deep to pale yellow color, a light mouthfeel, effervescence, and is sometimes slightly cloudy due to the wheat and yeast. Noble hops are used sparingly, only to support the flavors. The bitterness is extremely low, giving way to the light smoke and mild acidity that blend harmoniously with the wheat as the base.
