They quickly realized that the market was dominated by generic, bland, and personalityless beers. After struggling with a generic beer style that didn’t stand out, Mike and Dave decided: either go bankrupt or make a beer they truly loved. And from that turning point, Founders Brewing has redefined the entire production orientation – focusing on rich, complex, distinctive beers.

Centennial IPA was one of the first products to mark their rebirth. With its strong, distinctive flavor, this beer helped Founders make a name for itself in the craft beer community. It not only brought a resurgence to the brewery, but also helped shape the modern IPA in a bold, layered, and admirable way.

Not stopping there, Founders continued to innovate and expand its influence. The factory grew in size, gathering talented brewers and modern equipment while still maintaining the artisanal spirit. By March 2025, Founders became part of the Mahou-San Miguel group. but still maintains its own distinct style, becoming one of the top 15 breweries in the United States.
